Benefits of online therapy
In the situations where people are scattered all over the world or just not comfortable commuting, coming to offices, sitting in the lines or using public transportation, Online psychotherapy is a great way to stay connected with your mental health provider. In person communication is a powerful way to get help, but at the same time emails or even text messaging is getting more popular in psychotherapy. And research shows that online therapy may be as effective as in-person.
Challenges of online therapy
Keeping your personal information private is a major concern in psychotherapy in general, but online psychotherapy adds a layer of complexity to it. Confidentiality is as important in online psychotherapy as it is in traditional forms of treatment. Since information is being transmitted online, there may be privacy leaks and hacks. Technology problems (sound, video, Internet interruption) can also make it difficult to access psychotherapy when you really need it.
And you must be in a safe location, and no one should listen to you when you are communicating with the mental health provider.
Online platforms
I personally prefer to use Zoom (web-site) and Psychology Today platform
