General Questions
* What is the difference between Psychology and Psychotherapy?
‒ If you need formal assessment or a formal diagnosis then a psychologist may be helpful.
Psychotherapy offers you treatment and support without formal assessment and diagnosis.

* What is the scope of practice of Psychotherapy?
– The practice of psychotherapy is the assessment and treatment of cognitive, emotional or behavioural disturbances by psychotherapeutic means, delivered through a therapeutic relationship based primarily on verbal or non-verbal communication. [Psychotherapy Act, 2007]

* What is “Authorized Act of Psychotherapy”?
‒ In the course of engaging in the practice of psychotherapy, a member is authorized, subject to the terms, conditions and limitations imposed on his or her certificate of registration, to treat, by means of psychotherapy techniques delivered through a therapeutic relationship, an individual’s serious disorder of thought, cognition, mood, emotional regulation, perception or memory that may seriously impair the individual’s judgement, insight, behaviour, communication or social functioning. [Psychotherapy Act, 2007]

* How long does treatment usually last?
‒ The therapy I offer is designed to be a brief treatment approach. Most of my clients are able to see significant improvement after 6 to 12 sessions. Your case may different and depend upon your goals, health, desire to change something in your life, resources, and circumstances.

* Do I need a referral from my family physician?
‒ A referral from your family physician is usually required for a medical consultation with a psychiatrist. Since a psychotherapist is not a psychiatrist, you do not need it. Also neither psychologists nor psychotherapists prescribe medications.

* Are there any side effects of psychotherapy?
‒ Yes. You will gain more control over your life and you will be responsible for the things that happen to you.

* What do I need to do before coming to you?
‒ I want you to have answers for the following questions:
1) what do you want to change in your way of life?
2) Are you ready to change your life?
3) What are you going to sacrifice in order to make your life better?

Location
* Where is your office?
‒ My office is located in East York (Woodbine / Danforth – Toronto). Free parking in the driveway. But since 2020 I work only online.
